About ErrorCompass
ErrorCompass is an independent information resource for people trying to work out what their household appliance is telling them. When a washing machine shows a code, a dishwasher light starts blinking or a refrigerator makes a noise it did not make last week, the first question is always the same: what does this actually mean?
We publish plain-language explanations of appliance error codes, fault codes, control panel symbols, indicator lights and common problems, along with the checks a person can safely carry out and a clear indication of when the job belongs to a qualified professional.
What we are not
- We are not affiliated with any appliance manufacturer. ErrorCompass is not owned by, endorsed by or sponsored by any brand we write about.
- Brand and model names belong to their respective owners. We reference them only to describe which appliances a guide applies to.
- We are not a repair service and we do not diagnose faults remotely. A code is a starting point for investigation, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Information varies by model
The same code can mean different things across brands, model ranges, production years and regions. Technical information on this site should always be checked against the official user manual for your specific model. Where a manufacturer publishes relevant documentation, we link to it in the guide.
Safety comes first
We never publish instructions that ask a reader to open a powered appliance, bypass a safety interlock, work on gas connections or handle refrigerant systems. Those tasks belong to appropriately qualified professionals. See our Safety Disclaimer for details.
